We are specialized in bringing missing children and adults back together with their families. Some missing people you will have heard of, but many more you won’t. For their families, life without them can be a desperate and unbearable struggle. We are there for them 24 hours a day, every day of the year, at the end of a phone, text or email, ready to use every means possible to search for and find their missing loved ones and to provide vital on-going support to families where the agonising wait turns into years, not just days.
How we help
The Policy and Research team at Missing People is responsible for improving the support and services available to missing children, adults and their families in three ways.
. Undertake and support research to understand the experiences of missing people and their families, and to understand what help they need.
. Advocate for change through campaigns and policy work on issues affecting missing people and their loved ones.
. Monitor and evaluate Missing People’s projects and services to assess the charity’s impact and how we should develop our services in the future.
– Anti-human Trafficking
There is no typical victim of human trafficking. Victims may be men, women and, even children. Traffickers coerce, deceive and force individuals against their will into a life of abuse, servitude and inhumane treatment. Victims may be sexually exploited, forced to work for little or no pay or forced to commit criminal activities against their will. Victims are often pressured into debt bondage and are likely to be fearful of those who exploit them. Captors will often threaten and abuse their victims and their families. All of these factors make it very difficult for them to escape.
How we help
We are the largest provider of accommodation and outreach support in India and assist female, male and transgender survivors of trafficking ranging from the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labour or services, domestic servitude, slavery or practices similar to slavery servitude to the removal of organs.
Through a partnership with several NGO’s, we began supporting survivors of human trafficking. Today, we are the largest provider of outreach support to male and female survivors of trafficking in India.
We currently have a team of specialist advocates who provide support to over 300 people across the capital. The team work extremely closely with partners who include specialist agents and government agencies, providing the emotional and practical help our service users need. This vital work is done through our network of 3 safe houses and also through our expanded community outreach service. Our service users are supported to access counselling and educational opportunities so that they are better equipped to navigate the legal processes and road ahead of them as they begin their journey to a new life free from their traffickers.
